My summer in Uganda was an experience I will never forget. I felt excited about going to a new place, expectant that God would teach me, and terrified about stepping into the unknown.
God did teach me – about a whole host of things:
The beauty of his creation
Uganda’s red soil (not a tan) & lush green plants. Spectacular waterfalls and the source of the Nile. Beautiful children … who find white people fascinating and could spend hours playing with your hair and poking your skin.
I met people who had no roof over their heads and no food to eat. I met a desperate mother who handed her baby over & refused to take her back because she couldn’t provide for her child. The wonder of the gospel I met people who are so so poor yet fully rich in Christ.
My Summer in Uganda has opened my eyes. I hope to remember what I saw, continue to be challenged, and put into practise all that the lessons that my Summer brought. |
