What is Synergy?

Synergy is Africa Inland Mission’s short-term programme that offers anyone over the age of 18 the opportunity to get involved with cross-cultural mission in Africa.

Who are Africa Inland Mission?

Founded in 1895, Africa Inland Mission is an evangelical, interdenominational organisation with the goal of seeing ‘Christ-centred churches among all African peoples’. As AIM’s short-term division, Synergy shares the same vision of reaching Africa’s unreached people with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Reaching the unreached through…

Are you prepared to…

Meet ministry needs: We have many specific ministry needs throughout Africa that you could fill. Find out further details for ministry needs on our Gap Year page, Teams page or Electives page. If you have a particular skill or gifting that you would like to use in Africa, contact us and let us know.

Disciple and be discipled: We need people who are not just skilled in a particular area, but who have a heart for making disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19). This is a crucial part of all of our ministry placements. In turn we want to provide you with an insight into cross-cultural ministry, a practical understanding of mission, and personal spiritual development as you engage in hands-on ministry.

Learn a language and train in cultural sensitivity: The Apostle Paul’s principle was to adapt, where possible, to the cultures of those he aimed to reach in order to become effective in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 9:20-23). Making the effort to learn the culture and language of those we serve, as we adapt our lifestyles to theirs, goes a long way towards earning genuine listeners as we share our faith.

How can I support the work in Africa?

We’re not only looking for people to spend time in Africa, but for those who have a heart to pray for Africa and to give, supporting those reaching out with the gospel. Click here for more details.
